Panel on “Energiewende” during the Congress of Germany Experts in Wroclaw

The Congress of Germany Experts in Wroclaw is organised by the Willy Brandt Centre at the University of Wroclaw from 21 to 23 November.

I am going to chair a panel about the energy transition (Energiewende) in Germany titled: “Polityka energetyczna i klimatyczna Niemiec – Energiewende, ochrona klimatu, bezpieczenstwo energetyczne” [German energy and climate policy – Energiewende, climate protection, energy security].

Boom energetyki obywatelskiej w Niemczech

W latach 90. w modzie byla prywatyzacja sieci energetycznych, dzis w calych Niemczech przejmuja je firmy komunalne i spoldzielnie. W Hamburgu i Stuttgarcie odbeda sie jesienia referenda w tej sprawie, inicjatywa referendalna zawiazala sie takze w Berlinie.

Niemcy mawiaja, ze Energiewende zyje zaangazowaniem obywatelskim. Dobrze to rokuje temu obecnie najbardziej ambitnemu projektu transformacji energetycznej na swiecie. Bo Niemcom nie brakuje woli angazowania sie na rzecz wspolnego dobra, jakim jest czyste srodowisko, zwiazana z nim wysoka jakosc zycia, bezpieczenstwo energetyczne oraz transparentny i demokratyczny system energetyczny, ktory nie ogranicza dostepu najmniej zamoznym, a generowane zyski reinwestuje w tym systemie dla dobra jego uzytkownikow.

Panel discussion during the 10. PLANETE + DOC FILM FESTIVAL in Wroclaw

The panel discussion, organised by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Warsaw office, and Greenpeace Poland, with the title “Czy ludzkosc przetrwa bez lodowcow?” (Will humans survive without glaciers?) is going to take place following the screening of the film “Chasing Ice” directed by Jeff Orlowski. It is part of the 10. PLANETE + DOC FILM FESTIVAL that is going to take place in Warsaw and WrocÅ‚aw.

I am going to present the scientific foundations of climate change as well as German achievements in the field of climate policy.
